BMC Software Positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in Event Correlation and Analysis Magic Quadrant

Evaluation based on Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision

HOUSTON, December 27, 2007 – BMC Software today announced that its BMC Event Manager solution has been positioned in the leaders quadrant in Gartner’s recently released “Magic Quadrant for Event Correlation and Analysis, 2007” research report.

BMC Event Manager plays a vital role helping organizations establish the groundwork for Business Service Management (BSM). With BMC Event Manager, customers can minimize the downtime of IT components by identifying failures before they impact IT service levels. BMC Event Manager also allows IT managers to resolve problems more rapidly by translating events received from various IT components into actionable, business-relevant information.

“Our vision for IT Event Correlation and Analysis directly correlates to market demands,” said Israel Gat, vice president, Distributed Systems Management, BMC Software. “In the past year we have made great strides, both through organic growth and the acquisition of ProactiveNet, that have contributed to our ability to further realize that vision while extending our leadership in end-to-end IT service management.”

According to the report, Gartner “evaluates how vendors’ visions align with industry trends and evolving market requirements, their understanding of technical and market issues, their ability to differentiate products and grow their businesses, and their emphasis on best practices and the ease of deploying the event management solution, not just on product features.” Gartner evaluated “a vendor’s ability to execute and completeness of vision relative to a defined set of evaluation criteria regarding current and future market requirements.”
